Three witch hunters, Khald, Josh, and Aaron arrived in Boswyck after three nights of bad dreams. They were surprised to meet each other, but decided to discuss what had brought them together over lunch at the Three Swans Inn. They were greeted by Frederick van Rijn and his served by his son William. William was slightly hostile to Khald, not willing to talk to indians. He did mention to them the recent gossip of the town being the death of a local woman named Sarah de Groot.

During the meal, they heard screaming from out back. They raced outside to discover that Frederick was being attacked. The wort he had been boiling in a cauldron out back to make beer had grown into hot, bubbling tentacles that had latched onto him. After knocking the cauldron over, they were able to save the man from being scalded to death. William retrieved the doctor while Aaron healed Frederick with animism.

During the struggle, Khald had noticed that a man across the street had watched the conflict before turning away to enter the church. They decided to start their investigation there. They found that the man, Pastor Hansen, held a low opinion of Frederick for serving alcohol. He believed that the incident was the Lord’s Justice. He also revealed his pleasure at the death of Sarah who he castigated as a sinner. As they left, they noticed a book the Pastor had been pursing that was marked with a large white feather and a passage that appeared to be marked in blood.

The hunters proceeded to investigate other strange occurrences around the town. This led them to the death of Sarah de Groot. Two weeks prior she had died in bed, though apparently she had some kind of fit. They talked with her brother, Eric. He told them that Sarah had traveled much when she was younger. He then provided them with one of the three white feathers that had been found with her when she died.

They then sought out Sarah de Groot’s house. As they approached it they were greeted by Thomas Chandler. He was Sarah’s solicitor to her will. They were surprised to discover that Aaron was listed as a beneficiary, and that the will had been authored a year before. He received a small purse of coins and a letter instructing him to tell her brother that, “Sarah has gone hunting again.”

A quick search of Sarah’s house seemed to reveal that everything about her death was as they were told. Another feather was found as well. They then headed back to Eric’s house. When they delivered the message from the letter, Eric produced Sarah’s old walking staff and handed it to Aaron. Sarah’s spirit then informed Aaron that she had been a member of the Fellowship of the Ashen Cross gifted with foresight. She was slain in a struggle with a demon that had been posing as an angel. She tells them that the demon will strike again soon to kill Frederick and William.

They rushed back to the inn just in time to discover William preparing to kill his father with an ax while the demon, Angelmichael sat on a table compelling the boy. Josh wrestled with the boy while Khald and Aaron did battle with the demon. While he assaulted their minds, Angelmichael’s body was vulnerable. The demon was banished and all of his compulsions ended.

The hunters rushed to the Calvinist church where Pastor Hansen was preparing to kill himself as his mind cleared and he realized the truth of the deal he had made. They stopped him and turned him over to the townsfolk for justice. The townsfolk decreed that Hansen would be hung for conspiring with a demon to commit murder.

With their work finished, the hunters left the town. Khald and Josh headed north while Aaron had business to the south.

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
